ASL Levels 1 - 2 Adults

This class is for the serious ASL learner.  If you are committed in acquiring fluency so that you may communicate with Deaf individuals this class is for you.  ASL Levels 1-2 sessions are 3 hours long.  Each session is composed of 2 lessons.  You learn extra vocabulary, grammar and have more time to practice your skills.  We welcome you with open arms to experience the world of being Deaf.  You will learn to love and appreciate Deaf culture and its community.  What are you waiting for?  Sign up for this life changing learning experience.  We promise no regrets!

 

This is a beginner - advanced level course that teaches American Sign Language, Deaf Culture and history.  Topics include: basic vocabulary, grammar, history, fingerspelling, numbers, terminology, and Deaf culture and history.  The course is structured to help the students build basic expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language and to understand the cultural values, beliefs, and behavioral norms of the Deaf community.  This is an instructor guided course with independent studies.  During class time the students are provided with lectures and group activities to learn new skills and to reinforce, review, and practice what has been learned in class.  A certificate of completion will be provided once you finalize the course.  This is the best course to acquire and improve fluency.

 

NOTE:  MINIMUM OF 4 STUDENTS TO RUN THE CLASS.

ASL 1

ASL 1. Topics include: basic vocabulary, grammar, history, fingerspelling, numbers, terminology, and Deaf culture and history.  The course is structured to help the students build basic expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language and to understand the cultural values, beliefs, and behavioral norms of the Deaf community.  This is an instructor guided course with independent studies.  During class time the students are provided with lectures and group activities to learn new skills and to reinforce, review, and practice what has been learned in class. (Adults- 1hr. sessions).

NOTE:  MINIMUM OF 4 STUDENTS TO RUN THE CLASS.

If you have a group of people interested for this class and would prefer a specific day of the week, we can accommodate your group to attend Mon. - Fri. after 5 PM.

Parent and Child Sign Language Workshop

Come join the fun!  This workshop is designed to allow parents and caregivers to interact with their child in an educational and fun environment.  Learn basic American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary through games and activities.  Registration covers 1 adult and 1 child (5 years old or older).

ASL for Teens

Storytelling for kids are interpreted in American Sign Language (ASL), narrated in English along with a visual presentation.  Exposing children to storytelling assists them with language and memory skills.  In addition it helps children learn about different cultures.  

Tuition: $10.00 for parent and child, each additional child is $5.00

Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

Information Session

Information sessions are held regularly throughout the year, on weekdays and weekends during various hours.  Space  is limited, therefore, in order to attend an information session you must register.

Adult and Pediatric First Aid CPR/AED

LEARN TO SAVE A LIFE!

Wouldn't you want to be prepared to SAVE the LIFE of someone you know or love?  Knowing a few simple things and taking a few hours out of your busy life to educate yourself could be the most important thing you ever do.

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.  This course meets OSHA/workplace requirements.

The Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age - adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.  Deaf/HH welcome (ASL interpreter available).  Price:  $90
